Lying on the border of Europe and Asia, Armenia is a country of raw beauty, long-established traditions dating back to ancient times, and open, warm-hearted people. Called the Pomegranate Country, it impresses with its mountainous landscapes and monumental architecture of early medieval monasteries. This is where Ani Muradyan comes from – an Armenian woman living in Poland since 1993, a ceramic artist, painter, interior, furniture and jewellery designer, whose exhibition will be presented in Lipowa 3 Gallery.

Ani Muradyan is strongly linked to her country of origin, which can be observed in the works she creates. The chamotte clay, reflecting the austerity of Armenian nature, combined with coloured glaze, gold and silver, creates a colourful mosaic, reminiscent of an ornamental, oriental carpet. The letters of the Armenian alphabet, for lay people decorative in their very essence, enhance Ani’s works, sometimes only in the form of a graphic symbol, and sometimes creating longer sentences, fragments of poems, quotations. Ceramic masks, i.e. the Magic Ghosts by Ani Muradyan, refer to the richly decorated national costume of Armenia.

I encourage you to visit the exhibition, which, in the post-industrial atmosphere of the Zabłocie District in Krakow, will allow you to feel the spirit of the Pearl of the Caucasus.

Ani Muradyan – born in Armenia; in Poland since 1993. Graduate of the State Upper Secondary School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa (major: artistic ceramics) and of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (Faculty of Interior Design; graduation with distinction in 2006). Art Education teacher. She deals with ceramics, interior design and painting. In her works, she refers to the history, religion and art of Armenia, drawing her inspiration from the extensive symbolism of Armenian culture.
