Almost five years have passed since we presented the first individual exhibition of Mariusz Dydo’s works in the Lipowa 3 Gallery. The very popular ‘Żubromachia’ exhibition showed Mariusz not only as a perfectionist, confidently striving for the goal he set himself, but also as an artist with a great sense of humour, juggling with associations and references to the world of art in a free, sometimes frivolous way. Today, Lipowa 3 Gallery is a different place, with its own exhibition space and several years of experience in organizing exhibitions important for contemporary glass and ceramics art – but is Mariusz Dydo’s art also different? How has it changed over the last few years?

The answer to this question is provided by ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ exhibition, presenting the Artist’s works – a series of ceramic sculptures created in the period from 2008 to 2018, the common denominator of which is air, or more precisely air trapped in the form of a inflated ‘toy’. Mariusz Dydo surprises us again with his extraordinary mastery of the technique, when he misleads our senses with porcelain so faithfully imitating the ‘balloon-like’ material, as well as with his precision of workmanship and ingenuity. And all this is enriched with references to the world of art (see Jeff Koons’ works for reference), ironic humour and a pinch of eroticism. What we get is Mariusz Dydo in his best version.

The same place, the same Artist, five years later. You are cordially invited to visit the Lipowa 3 Gallery.
